“One of my favorite aspects of my position and being at KMB architects is seeing a project from start to finish, seeing the whole picture— beginning with the RFQ, then to the interview and award. Then I get to see the design process in action that results in the construction of a new building.”
Meet the Team | Keya
Marketing Manager Keya Bernhardt’s optimistic outlook and infectious laugh are key ingredients to the positive office culture at KMB architects. Multitasking is the name of the game in A/E/C marketing, and Keya takes it all in stride, never hesitating to offer her assistance to the team. She creates capture plans for future work, leads successful project pursuits, prepares teams for shortlist interviews, and plans all of our in-house events.
Keya offers strategic guidance to the leadership team by facilitating weekly leadership and marketing meetings where she offers her perspective on the firm’s marketing efforts, metrics to track, and long-term business development planning. Understanding that the ability to win future work hinges on successful past performance, she facilitates discussions around this topic, including conducting post-pursuit debriefs and presenting best practices to the whole firm at KMB U.
The firm embraces Keya’s art and graphic design expertise by tapping her skills for client deliverables as well. Working in collaboration with the architects and designers, Keya has contributed to wayfinding plans, maps, and signage for several of our community and technical college clients. She is also happy to lend a hand in laying out and editing technical reports.
In her personal life, Keya’s competitive spirit reveals itself in many outdoor activities like running, cycling, swimming, and kayaking. In fact, she was a competitive swimmer in her school years, competing in the 200-meter individual medley, 100-meter butterfly, and 500-meter butterfly. One secret to her successful swimming career was conditioning herself to hold her breath the entire length of the pool, yet she still found swimming the most difficult portion of the triathlon she completed. With all that activity, Keya fuels herself with her favorite hobby — cooking. Her passion for cooking runs the gamut from soups and bar-b-que on the Traeger to Indian food. Thanksgiving is Keya’s favorite meal to prepare, and her signature dish is Noodles Lassi. As you can imagine, the office potlucks at KMB architects are amazing!
